Are you a willow or a visual/mural artist?
We need you for an exciting new project!
We are looking for TWO professional community artists to lead on a creative outdoor project at Cymmer Primary School in Porth starting in October 2024.
Tanio would like to commission:
One willow artist and one visual/mural artists, to work collaboratively together with the children and staff at Cymmer primary. Both artists need to have experience of working in a community and /or educational setting.
What is required:
You will be working with years 1 and 2 on site at Cymmer Primary, delivering a series of exciting and inspiring workshops and installations, which capture the ideas and dreams of the staff and children.
Both artists will deliver sessions separately in small groups but will work together on a collective vision. The artists will bring to life the creative concept of the school, in the development and installation of a nature inspired outside learning area.
Artists will be required to work with staff and children for the installation of a ‘willow art gallery area’ and painted murals, which will enhance and transform the current outside space.
Artists are welcome to apply as a pair or as individuals for either post.
The Freelance artists will be working for Tanio.
Overall Purpose
The post-holders will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the project is delivered to the highest standard, representing the creative vision of the school whilst bringing to fruition a lasting legacy of the collaboration between Linc Cymru and Cymmer Primary.
Main Duties and Key Responsibilities
• Planning and delivering creative sessions with years 1 and 2 in visual or willow art
• Liaising with other artist and staff at Cymmer Primary to plan in project sessions and delivery
• Liaising with Tanio to plan and schedule project delivery with Cymmer primary School
• Working with Tanio to source materials and ensuring excellent communicating with all partners in the installation of willow structures and painted murals
• Contributing to Risk assessments
• Liaising with the Tanio team, particularly the Programme Manager
• Providing input and feedback for evaluation purposes to ensure learning is captured so it can be applied to the planning and delivery of future projects
Organisational Requirements
• Up to date DBS check
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism
• Working in a school environment maintain confidentiality at all times when recording or collecting data for the project
• Recommend actions to achieve value for money and efficiency
• Comply with Tanio’s Health and Safety Policy and statutory regulations
• Comply with the school’s policies and regulations.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for individuals with
• Excellent creative skills in willow or mural art to enable the successful delivery of the project
• Experience of working with children in a community or school setting
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with another artist and all project partners
• Proven excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with people at all levels
• Knowledge of sustainable working practices
• Willingness to take a hands-on approach to problem solving and trouble shooting
Terms and Conditions
Nature of engagement: Freelance (self-employed) contract
Place of Work: Cymmer Primary Schoo, Porth, RCT
Fee: £1,675.00 per artist
Contract length: Delivery starting in October 2024 installation completed by Feb 2025
Contract to include:
•1 day planning
•4 full days of workshops
•4 full days installation/ painting
