CHOOSE // DEWIS was an innovative project to educate young people about local democracy in Wales. Using theatre and song, participants learned about local structures and processes in politics. They also learned about Welsh Government, with a trip to the Senedd and opportunities to hear from people who work in politics and the public sector.

 

Across four months of workshops, the young people used their new knowledge to write an original musical theatre piece, which they performed to a packed house in January 2025. The production was dynamic and energetic, and centred around an issue that really mattered to the participants: the high cost of public transport. The show highlighted what the young people had learned about petitions, protest, and other pathways to making their voices heard in local and national politics.
