Visiting Artist Call Out: Porthcawl
Tanio are offering the opportunity for an exceptional visiting artist to lead, support, and nurture the creativity of the group in the groups’ desired medium of painting between February –March 2022.
This will be an exciting and challenging creative opportunity for the group to collaborate as a whole, in a new medium and exploring themes and topics that are important to them. We are looking for an artist who has experience working in adult community and participatory settings, who would be available between February –March 2022 to run this special project. You will be expected to attend the group in Porthcawl for 4 x 2 hour sessions, with an additional day of planning required. The total fee for this project is £450.
Ideally, we would like the participants to have work ready to put forward for a collaborative exhibition of all Breathing Space groups by 31st March. You will be supported during the sessions by a Lead facilitator and a Wellbeing Assistant, although some experience of working with individuals who experience mental health issues would be beneficial.
Breathing Space Porthcawl is one of five weekly groups run and facilitated by Tanio. We utilise creativity to engage and improve the lives of people who are:
- lonely and isolated
- who suffer from anxiety and depression
- have lost a loved one, and/or
- struggle with physical and mental health problems.
During these weekly sessions, Breathing Space Porthcawl participants have the opportunity to creatively express themselves, learn new skills and work as part of a team. Working together improves their interpersonal skills and listening to others will interrupt their own, often negative thoughts. Breathing Space allows participants to take control of their creative process improving their confidence. We also offer short mindfulness exercises and other relaxation techniques which individuals can use beyond the sessions.
To apply, please email an up-to-dateCV and an example of similar work you have undertaken to [email protected] 5pm on Friday 4th February 2022.
