Creative Connections || Breathing Space
At Creative Connections || Breathing Space we used arts and creativity to engage with people who are experiencing (or have experienced) mental health issues, isolation and loneliness.
During the pandemic we created a safe online environment where people can meet others, feel connected and build on their strengths and talents. We used an empowering approach to work in a collaborative way to improve participants wellbeing and quality of life. Through exploring mixed media and encouraging participants to explore their own interests and talents, the group not only created their own artwork but also collaborated together alongside professional facilitator Tic Ashfield to create an album of music, spoken word and poetry. We also used mindfulness and meditation techniques at the start of each session to help build participants’ resilience.
